SIGNALING PATHWAYS INVOLVED IN MULTIPLE MYELOMA-BONE MARROW STROMAL CELL INTERACTION

Project funded by THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY RESEARCH COUNCIL, Ministry of Education and Research, Romania (contract no. 395, 01-10-2007)
Goals and objectives
En | Ro

Through the current project proposal our intention is to continue to develop in Iasi our collaborative studies initiated with the University of Freiburg, studies that have been materialized in the aforementioned results.

To our knowledge, at present, in Romania, there are no visible research groups in the field. Therefore, this project targets, on the long term, to integrate Romanian scientific, technological, and medical communities within similar European institutions, by heightening the level of competence and bringing the local scientific potential up to international standards.

Our project proposal is based on the just mentioned premises and considers the stringent necessity to find new, efficient therapies for MM. The major, overall objective is to identify therapies targeting not microenvironment –provided cytokines/adhesion molecules, but rather common signaling pathways activated within the BM microenvironment.
